Why choose wool dryer balls?

Finally, let’s not forget the harmful effects of plastic on the planet and our health: your dryer will always perform better without it!

Ingredients

100% natural, untreated virgin wool. For families particularly mindful of their health, these untreated wool balls are hypoallergenic. They contain no chemicals or artificial fragrances, making them ideal for sensitive skin. How are they made? 1. Wool Collection : The wool is first collected during sheep shearing, a process that generally takes place once or twice a year. This wool is then cleaned to remove impurities and dirt. 2. Carding : The wool is carded, which means it is combed to align the fibers and make them easier to work with. This step is crucial for obtaining soft and uniform wool. 3. Spinning : The carded wool can then be spun into a continuous yarn. 4. Rolling : The wool yarn or carded wool is rolled into balls of the desired size and density. This step is often done by hand, although mechanical methods can also be used for larger production runs. 5. Fulling : The bales are then fulled, which means they are exposed to hot water and agitated so that the wool fibers interlock and felt. This process gives the bales their solid and durable shape. 6. Drying : After fulling, the balls are air-dried or tumble-dried at low temperature to finalize the felting process.

FAQs

Which dryer ball should I choose? The composition of a dryer ball is important, as it determines its lifespan. For a firm and durable ball, we recommend choosing wool balls. Why put balls in the dryer? Our dryer balls reduce machine drying time by 25%… while also reducing wrinkles on your clothes. This time and energy saving will have a real impact on your bills! How to use wool dryer balls? Our dryer balls are very easy to use: simply place the 3 balls in the drum of your tumble dryer, then start the drying cycle! Do you have a washer-dryer? In that case, you can add the balls at the beginning of the wash cycle, after adding your detergent . Where do the drying balls come from? Our dryer balls are made of natural, untreated wool. Because we don't have the expertise or the supply chain in Europe, we chose to support those who do. Our balls are made by Nepalese artisans, helping to create local jobs. We opted for wool balls rather than plastic ones because they don't release microplastics into the drum. They are completely biodegradable and much quieter. We know it's not perfect, but we're trying to do the right thing 😉. To reduce drying time, is using tennis balls just as environmentally friendly as using wool balls? While the mechanical effect is similar for both types of balls (they aerate the laundry, thus facilitating the passage of hot air to the core of the laundry), tennis balls release microplastics that will pollute the water in the dryer, which is not the case with wool balls. Are the dryer balls noisy? Our dryer balls are made entirely of wool. They're not hard tennis balls or plastic. They're gentler on the drum and, most importantly, they're silent! 😁 You can find the same ones cheaper on TEMU & Shein… and even worse: on Aliexpress. What's the difference? We're not particularly familiar with the ones from these major retailers, but there are many small balls made of synthetic fibers. Naturally, they're much cheaper, but they release microplastics with every wash. Because of their small size, they're less effective. Our balls are made of 100% wool. Be mindful of the composition of the ones you buy. It's important for your health and the planet.
